About Me
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Surgeon (GMC: 6168678) at Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool and an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery at the University of Oxford.
I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2000 and completed my postgraduate orthopaedic training in Liverpool and Cape Town, South Africa. I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2017 and joined the Specialist Register in 2020.
I hold a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD, with research focused on traumatic injuries to the lower limb. I have authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and was awarded both the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons Hunterian Professorship and the Syme Medal for my research contributions.
My clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of orthopaedic trauma care, including general musculoskeletal injuries and limb reconstruction. I have particular expertise in the management of high-energy trauma, amputations, complex fractures, post-traumatic deformities, bone and implant-related infections, and complications such as non-union and malunion. I also have experience in the treatment of ballistic and gunshot injuries.
